Our Mission: 

   To raise the necessary funds to build a truly successful
athletic program at WATERLOO WEST HIGH SCHOOL;
to take WAHAWK athletics to a new level with the facilities,
equipment and personnel essential to restore the GLORY...
 
Statement of Need:
   "Parents, alumni, and especially the community as a whole,
must take responsibility for the success of West High's athletic
programs by filling in the gap with financial support and volunteer leadership."

Goals of the Wahawk Foundation:
 Our primary focus is to support and share ideas that enable

West High athletics to expand and provide enriched athletic

opportunities which benefit kids in the following areas:


  1. To maximize athletic opportunities and create the best possible environment for young people who participate in sports.
  2. Help provide high-quality athletic equipment and facilities necessary to improve student achievement.
  3. Strengthen athletic leadership and coaching staff to improve student achievement by assuring the best possible coach and staff to lead the programs.
    4. To build an endowment, to work long term in strengthening West High Athletics.
Background:
   West High alum and Division I athletic director Bob Bowlsby
knows what it takes to build strong athletic programs. While
addressing Wahawk students, parents and coaches in
September 2006, he spoke frankly about the fiscal limitations
of school budgets and the necessity to seek private support
from alumni, fans and, most importantly, the entire community.

    Bob Bowlsby’s message has ignited a new mission at
West High School. A mission to raise the funds needed
to build a truly successful athletic program. A mission to
take Wahawk athletics to a new level with the facilities,
equipment, and personnel essential to restore the glory. 

   It is to that mission that we enlist your help.

Wahawk Foundation Investments

 

  Our approach is to invest in opportunities and innovation which will provide for and strengthen athletics. The following donations have been possible as a result of the 2007 auction:

  • During the 2007-2008 school year, $10,000 was given to the West High Athletic Booster Club to assist with funding requests by the West High coaching staff.
  • During the 2007-2008 school year, $5,000 was given to the Athletic Department to assist with budget needs.
  • As is our intent every year, funds were earmarked to supplement the new school year athletic budget. $25,000 was passed to the Athletic Director to supplement the 2008-2009 school year budget.
